The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 and continuous shade, 30 and flowing water, 31 and fruits abounding 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And carpets raised. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
