In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
You, who have wrapped yourself up with a mantle, 1 Stay up the night long save a little 2 Half of it - or subtract from it a little 3 or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. 4 Verily We! anon We shall cast upon thee a weighty word. 5 Surely in the watches of the night the soul is most receptive and words more telling. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 And remember the Name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with a complete devotion. 8 (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. 9 And bear patiently what they say and avoid them with a becoming avoidance. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the affluent ones who give the lie (to the Truth), and bear with them for a while. 11 Surely with Us are heavy fetters and a flaming fire, 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment, 13 On that day, the earth and the mountains will be violently shaken, and the mountains will be turned into heaps of moving sand. 14 BEHOLD, [O men,] We have sent unto you an apostle who shall bear witness to the truth before you, even as We sent an apostle unto Pharaoh: 15 But Pharaoh rebelled against the messenger, whereupon We seized him with no gentle grip. 16 How, then, if you refuse to acknowledge the truth, will you protect yourselves on that Day which shall turn the hair of children grey, 17 The heavens itself will be rent asunder (on that day). His promise is bound to be fulfilled. 18 Indeed, this is a reminder, so whoever wills may take to his Lord a way. 19
