Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven becomes cleft asunder, 1 And when the stars have fallen and scattered; 2 And when the seas are made to flow forth, 3 When the graves are overturned, 4 every human being will [at last] comprehend, what he has sent ahead and what he has held back [in this world]. 5 O mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Generous, 6 who created you, formed you and proportioned you? 7 in whatever composition He wanted. 8 No indeed; but you cry lies to the Doom; 9 but you should know that there are angelic guards 10 Kiraman (honourable) Katibin writing down (your deeds). 11 Who know (all) that ye do. 12 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 13 and the libertines shall be in a fiery furnace 14 [a fire] which they shall enter on Judgment Day, 15 and from which they will find no escape. 16 And what could make thee conceive what that Judgment Day will be? 17 Again, what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is? 18 A day when no soul shall possess aught to succour another soul; that day the Command shall belong unto God. 19
