S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Suad, I swear by the Quran, full of admonition. 1 But nay - they who are bent on denying the truth are lost in [false] pride, and [hence] deeply in the wrong. 2 How many a generation have We destroyed before their time [for this very sin]! And [how] they called [unto Us] when it was too late to escape! 3 They wondered that a warner had come to them from among themselves, and the deniers of the Truth said: “This is a sorcerer, and a big liar. 4 Maketh he the gods One God? Verily that is a thing astounding! 5 And the elders among them went forth saying: “Go ahead and be steadfast in adhering to your deities. What is being said is with a design.” 6 We have not heard of this in later religion. This is naught but an invention. 7 Hath unto him the admonition been sent down from amongst us! Yea! they are in doubt concerning My admonition. Yea! they have not yet tasted My torment. 8 Do they possess the treasures of your Lord, the Most Mighty, the Great Bestower? 9 Or do they possess the dominion of the heavens and the earth and of all that is in between them? If so, let them ascend the heights of the realm of causation and see! 10 A very host of parties is routed there! 11 Before them (were many who) belied Messengers, the people of Nuh (Noah); and 'Ad; and Fir'aun (Pharaoh) the man of stakes (with which he used to punish the people), 12 And Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the Companions of the Wood; - such were the Confederates. 13 Not one of them but belied the Messengers, therefore My Torment was justified, 14
