The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
The Last Day came near, and the moon split apart. 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 They have rejected it and have followed their own desires, but all matters will be settled (by God). 3 there has come to them many a tiding wherein there are warnings, 4 The pinnacle of wisdom – so how will the Heralds of warning provide any benefit? 5 turn thou away from them. On the Day when the Summoning Voice will summon [man] unto something that the mind cannot conceive, 6 With looks downcast they will come forth, from the tombs, as though they were locusts scattered abroad. 7 running in confusion towards the Summoning Voice; [and] those who [now] deny the truth will exclaim, "Calamitous is this Day!" 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 So he prayed to his Lord: "I am helpless, deliver me." 10 Then We opened the gates of heaven unto water torrential, 11 and caused the earth to burst forth with springs, so that the waters met for a purpose pre-ordained: 12 We carried him, (Noah), on a vessel built with boards fixed together with nails, 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 The tribe of A’ad denied – so how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 Smashing down men as if they were uprooted trunks of date palms. 20 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 21 But We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 22
