Said the Council of the people of Pharaoh, 'Surely this man is a cunning sorcerer 109 "He wants to get you out of your land, so what do you advise?" 110 They said: "Keep him and his brother in suspense (for a while); and send to the cities men to collect- 111 to bring together at the Pharaohs court all the skillful magicians. 112 The magicians came to the Pharaoh and said, "We must have our reward if we are to gain a victory over him (Moses)". 113 He said: Yes, and you shall certainly be of those who are near (to me). 114 They said, “O Moosa! You may throw first – or shall we be the first to throw?” 115 He said: Cast. So when they cast, they deceived the people's eyes and frightened them, and they produced a mighty enchantment. 116 Then We directed Moses: 'Now you throw your rod.' And lo! it swallowed up all their false devices. 117 ۞ So the truth was proved and their works were disproved. 118 Thus were they there defeated and brought low. 119 But the sorcerers fell down prostrate in adoration. 120 And said: "We have come to believe in the Lord of all the worlds, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron' 122 The Pharaoh said to the magicians, "You declared your belief in him (Moses) without my permission. This is a plot to throw my people out of their city. But you will soon know. 123 most certainly shall I cut off your hands and your feet in great numbers, because of [your] perverseness, and then I shall most certainly crucify you, in great numbers, all together!" 124 They said: "Verily, we are returning to our Lord. 125 “And what did you dislike in us, except that we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us? Our Lord! Pour (bestow abundantly) patience on us, and bestow us death as Muslims.” 126
