The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and spreading shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And raised couches. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
