A multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the first generation (who embraced Islam). 39 and a good many of later times. 40 And the fellows on the left hand; how miserable shall the fellows on the left hand be! 41 [They will find themselves] in the midst of scorching winds, and burning despair, 42 and the shadow of a smoking blaze 43 neither cool nor refreshing. 44 Verily, before that, they indulged in luxury, 45 and persisted in the Great Sin, 46 And they used to say: What! when we die and have become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised? 47 Or our fathers of yore? 48 Say thou: verily the ancients and those of later generations: 49 will indeed be gathered together at an appointed time on a Day known [only to God]: 50 Then you, the erring ones and those that gave the lie to the Truth, 51 Will eat of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 And shall fill therewith your bellies. 53 and drink boiling water on top of that, 54 "Indeed ye shall drink like diseased camels raging with thirst!" 55 Such will be their welcome on Judgment Day! 56 We have created you, so why do you not believe? 57 Have you seen that which you emit? 58 Do you create a child out of it, or are We its creators? 59 We have incorporated death in your constitution, and We shall not be hindered 60 In order that We may bring in your place the likes of you and make you grow into what you know not. 61 You have surely known of the first creation. Why then, will you not remember! 62 Have you ever considered the seed which you cast upon the soil? 63 Is it you that make it grow, or are We the Grower? 64 If We pleased, We should have certainly made it broken down into pieces, then would you begin to lament: 65 crying, "We have been left to suffer loss. 66 Surely, we have been deprived (of the benefits)". 67 See ye the water which ye drink? 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds or We? 69 If We had so pleased, We could have made it bitter. So why would you not give thanks? 70 Did you consider the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you who grew its tree, or is it We Who create? 72 It is We who have made it as a reminder and a means of comfort for the people. 73 Wherefore hallow thou the name of thy Lord, the Mighty. 74
