The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 a fitting requital, 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
