The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 And those who govern the event, 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
