Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
