The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount, 1 And the Book written 2 in an exposed parchment 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 there is none to avert it. 8 (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- 11 Those who sport entering into vain discourses. 12 A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell. 13 “This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.” 14 Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? 15 Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. 20 We shall unite the believers with those descendants of theirs who followed them in their faith, and shall not deny them any part of the reward for their good deeds. Every person is pledged to what he did. 21 And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
