The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 And when the stars fall, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
