The Mountain (Al-Toor)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount 1 by the book (Torah) written 2 In an outstretched fine parchment, 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 by the high ceiling (heaven), 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 and the mountains shudder and shake. 10 So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 “This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.” 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 "Eat and drink with relish," (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done." 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. 21 We shall give them fruits and meat as they desire. 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round. 24 And they [who are thus blest] will turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
