The Town (Al-Balad)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by this city (Makkah); 1 For you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) are in this city. 2 by the begetter, and that he begot, 3 Assuredly We have created man in trouble. 4 Does he think then that no one has power over him? 5 He shall say: I have wasted much wealth. 6 Thinks he that none sees him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?- 8 and a tongue, and a pair of lips, 9 And did We not show him the two highroads (of good and evil)? 10 But he did not venture to scale the difficult steep. 11 And what will make you comprehend what the uphill road is? 12 It is freeing someone's neck from slavery; 13 Or the giving of food in a day of hunger 14 To an orphan, having relationship, 15 or a needy man in misery; 16 And then being among those who believed and advised one another to patience and advised one another to compassion. 17 Their place will be on the right hand. 18 But those who disbelieved in Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), they are those on the Left Hand (the dwellers of Hell). 19 with the Fire closed above them. 20
