۞ “Gather all the unjust persons and their spouses, and all that they used to worship!” – 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 "'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'" 25 They will submit to questioning then, 26 They will turn upon one another, and question one another. 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. 29 And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people. 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 “We therefore led you astray, for we ourselves were astray!” 32 Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. 33 Even so We do with the sinners; 34 They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence, 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 Most surely you will taste the painful punishment. 38 and be rewarded only according to your deeds." 39 Not so, however, God's true servants: 40 Those! theirs shall be a provision known: 41 Fruits; and they will be honoured. 42 in the Gardens of Bliss, 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 Theirs shall be wide-eyed maidens with bashful, restrained glances, 48 so delicate as the hidden peel under an egg's shell. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 And a speaker from among them will say: verily there was unto me a mate. 51 who would say: "Are you among the believers (of the resurrection)? 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 Do you want to see him?' " 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! 57 “So are we never to die?” (The people of Paradise will ask the angels, with delight, after the announcement of everlasting life.) 58 [again,] beyond our previous death, and that we shall never [again] be made to suffer? 59 Truly, this is the supreme success! 60 For the like of this then let the workers work. 61 Is this not a better reward than the tree of Zaqqum 62 Verily We! We have made it a temptation for the wrong-doers. 63 Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire, 64 Its spathes are like the prickly pear. 65 They will eat and fill their bellies with it, 66 And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water 67 And afterward, lo! their return is surely unto hell. 68 Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path; 69 and they run in their footsteps. 70 Before them erred most of the ancients, 71 and We sent among them warners; 72 See then the end of those who were warned, 73 EXCEPT for God's true servants, [most people are apt to go astray.] 74
