Thamud gave the lie to the warnings, 23 They said, "Should we follow only one person among us. We shall be clearly in error and in trouble (if we do so). 24 Has the [Divine] message been revealed to him alone of all of us? No, he is a boastful liar." 25 Ah! they will know on the morrow, which is the liar, the insolent one! 26 We are sending the she-camel to them to test them. So watch them and be patient. 27 And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them. Every drinking will be witnessed. 28 Then they called their fellow, and he took the sword and hamstrung her, 29 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 30 Verily, We sent against them a single Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.), and they became like the dry stubble of a fold-builder. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 32 The people of Lot rejected the warnings. 33 We sent against them a violent Tornado with showers of stones, (which destroyed them), except Lut's household: them We delivered by early Dawn,- 34 As a reward from Us; this is how We reward one who gives thanks. 35 For he had truly warned them of Our punishing might; but they stubbornly cast doubt on these warnings, 36 And they tried to persuade him regarding his guests – We therefore blinded their eyes, “So taste My punishment, and My warnings.” 37 And certainly a lasting chastisement overtook them in the morning. 38 Taste then My torment and My warnings. 39 And indeed, We have made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 40
