He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and fears (Allah), 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
