Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
HaMeem 1 By the Clear Book. 2 that We have revealed the Quran on a blessed night to warn mankind. 3 On which all affairs are sorted out and decided 4 The command that We have been sending 5 A mercy from your Lord; indeed He only is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 6 Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between the twain, if only ye would be convinced. 7 There is no god but He. He quickeneth and causeth to die: your Lord and Lord of your forefathers. 8 Yet they play about in doubt. 9 Watch for the Day when the heaven will bring clear smoke, 10 Which will envelop the people; this is a painful punishment. 11 Thereupon they will say, “O our Lord! Remove the punishment from us – we now accept faith.” 12 How shall the message be (effectual) for them, seeing that an Messenger explaining things clearly has (already) come to them,- 13 Whereas they had then turned away from him and said, “He is a madman, tutored!”? 14 Yet We will hold the scourge back for a while, (but no sooner than We will do so) you will revert to your old ways. 15 The Day when We shall seize them with a mighty seizing, that will be the Day on which We shall inflict upon you full retribution. 16 ۞ Already before them We tried the people of Pharaoh, and a noble Messenger came unto them, 17 (saying:) 'Be obedient to me O worshipers of Allah. I am your honest Messenger. 18 And saying, “And do not rebel against Allah; I have brought a clear proof to you.” 19 I have taken refuge with my Lord and your Lord lest you should attack me with stones. 20 And if ye put no faith in me, then let me go. 21 Then he called to his Lord: "These are a sinful people." 22 So go forth with My servants by night; surely you will be pursued: 23 Then leave the sea calm they are an army that will be drowned. 24 How many were the gardens and springs they left behind, 25 And fields and grand palaces! 26 And the comfort they enjoyed. 27 Thus. And We caused to inherit it another people. 28 And the heaven and earth wept not for them, nor were they reprieved. 29
