The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 will be easy, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
