۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire 23 And halt them so that they may be questioned. 24 'Why do you not help one another? 25 They will submit to questioning then, 26 And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other. 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. 29 “And we did not have any control over you; but in fact you yourselves were rebellious.” 30 Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom). 31 “We therefore led you astray, for we ourselves were astray!” 32 On that Day, they will all share the chastisement. 33 That is how We deal with sinners. 34 Whenever it was said to them: “There is no true deity apart from Allah,” they waxed proud 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 although you shall not be requited for aught but what you were wont to do. 39 But Allah's chosen servants (shall be spared this woeful end). 40 [in the hereafter,] theirs shall be a sustenance which they will recognize 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 In the Gardens of delight, 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 Round them will be passed a cup of pure wine; 45 White, delicious for the drinkers. 46 Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 And with them will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes. 48 so delicate as the hidden peel under an egg's shell. 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 A speaker of them saith: Lo! I had a comrade 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 after we die and become dust and bones, we shall be brought to judgement?'" 53 Do you want to see him?' " 54 Then he looked down and saw him in the midst of hell. 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! 57 What then, shall we not die 58 Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?" 59 Most surely this is the mighty achievement. 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Verily, We have caused it to be a trial for evildoers: 63 Verily it is a tree that springeth forth in the bottom of Flaming Fire. 64 its spathes are like the heads of satans 65 They will eat and fill their bellies with it, 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 Then their return will be to the same blazing Hell. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 yet they run in their footsteps, 70 And verily most of the men of old went astray before them, 71 But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;- 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 74
