And whatever affliction befalls you, it is on account of what your hands have wrought, and (yet) He pardons most (of your faults). 30 You cannot thwart Him on the earth, and have no friend or helper apart from Him. 31 And among His signs are the ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas: 32 If He pleases, He causes the wind to become still so that they lie motionless on its back; most surely there are signs in this for every patient, grateful one, 33 or He may cause them to founder because of people's misdeeds, He pardons many of them, 34 But let those know, who dispute about Our Signs, that there is for them no way of escape. 35 Whatever ye are given (here) is (but) a convenience of this life: but that which is with Allah is better and more lasting: (it is) for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord: 36 And those who avoid the major sins and immoralities, and when they are angry, they forgive, 37 Those who hearken to their Lord, and establish regular Prayer; who (conduct) their affairs by mutual Consultation; who spend out of what We bestow on them for Sustenance; 38 And those who, when great wrong is done to them, defend themselves, 39 The recompense of a sin is a sin like it, but whosoever forgives and seeks to reform, his wage will be with Allah. Surely, He does not love the harmdoers. 40 Yet indeed, as for any who defend themselves after having been wronged - no blame whatever attaches to them: 41 The way is only open against those who do wrong to the people, and are insolent in the earth wrongfully; there awaits them a painful chastisement. 42 But surely he who bears patiently and is forgiving -- surely that is true constancy. 43
