The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 Who will be honoured 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 and flowing water 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 for those on the Right, 38
