Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Indubitable! 1 What is the Inevitable? 2 And what do you know what that indubitable event is? 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 and the Ad were destroyed by a furiously raging wind-storm 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 Then do you see of them any remains? 8 And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, 13 the earth and mountains will be raised up high and crushed all together. 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 They will have a pleasant life 21 In an elevated garden, 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 Eat and drink with benefit for that which ye sent on beforehand in days past. 24 But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 (It will be said): Take him and fetter him 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 nor would he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 On this day, they will have no friends 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 "Which none do eat but those in sin." 37
