The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
