The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The Companions of the Right 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and extended shade, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
