Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! 2 What makes you to know what the Resurrection Verifier is? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Then do you see of them any remains? 8 Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He punished them with a strong punishment. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, 16 And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account.” 20 And he will be in a life of Bliss, 21 In a high garden 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 and neither known this my account! 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 and our belief has destroyed us". 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), 34 On this day, they will have no friends 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
