He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 You pay full attention, 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and in awe of God 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 most exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and purified. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
