No, by the moon! 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 A warning to mortals, 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 in Gardens they will question 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 like frightened donkeys 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
