The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 by the managers (angels) affair. 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 While eyes are downcast 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 Then he gathered (men) and called out. 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
