The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
