Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In an elevated garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 and raised couches, 13 And cups put in place 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And linen spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
