The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 And affirms goodness, 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 And rejects the best, 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
