And Nuh did certainly call upon Us, and most excellent answerer of prayer are We. 75 And We delivered him and his followers from the mighty distress. 76 And We preserved his descendants. 77 And We left (this blessing) for him among generations to come in later times: 78 Peace be on Nuh among the worlds. 79 That is how We reward those who do good. 80 Surely he was one of Our truly believing servants. 81 Then afterwards We drowned the rest. 82 ۞ Abraham was one of his followers. 83 when he turned to his Sustainer with a heart free of evil, 84 Recall what time he said unto his father and his people: What is it that ye worship? 85 Is it falsehood [as] gods other than Allah you desire? 86 What do you think of the Lord of the Worlds?" 87 He cast a glance at the stars 88 and said, "Verily, I am sick [at heart]!" 89 All the people turned away from him 90 Then he slipped unto their gods and said: eat ye not? 91 What aileth ye that ye speak not? 92 He then began striking them with his right hand, unseen by the people. 93 Thereupon the people came running to him. 94 He answered: "Do you worship something that you [yourselves] have carved, 95 Whereas Allah hath created you and that which ye make? 96 They said, "Construct for him a furnace and throw him into the burning fire." 97 They plotted against him, but We brought humiliation upon them. 98 And he said: verily I am going to my Lord who will guide me. 99 My Lord! Bestow on me a son who will be of the righteous. 100 Wherefore We gave him the glad tidings of a boy gentle. 101 and when he was old enough to go about and work with him, (one day) Abraham said to him: “My son, I see in my dream that I am slaughtering you. So consider (and tell me) what you think.” He said: “Do as you are bidden. You will find me, if Allah so wills, among the steadfast.” 102 And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead, 103 We called unto him: O Abraham! 104 You have fulfilled the dream (vision)!" Verily! Thus do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 105 Indeed, this was the clear trial. 106 We ransomed his son with a great sacrifice 107 and We let it (the beautiful praise) remain upon him in the latter (generations), 108 "Peace and salutation to Abraham!" 109 Even so We recompense the good-doers; 110 Verily, he was one of Our believing slaves. 111 Then, We gave him the glad tidings of Isaac, a Prophet, one of the righteous, 112 and blessed him and Isaac too: some of their offspring were good, but some clearly sinned against their souls. 113
