And assuredly We delivered the Children of Isra'il from an ignominous torment 30 at the hands of Pharaoh: he was a tyrant who exceeded all bounds. 31 We knowingly exalted them (i.e., the Children of Israel) above other peoples of the world 32 and sent them revelations of which some were a clear trial for them. 33 Even then they say: 34 There is naught but our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring back to us our fathers if you are truthful.” 36 Are they better, or the people of Tubba? And those who were before them? We destroyed them; they were indeed criminals. 37 We created not the heavens and earth, and all that between them is, in play; 38 We did not create them both but with the truth, but most of them do not know. 39 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] is the term appointed for all of them: 40 A Day whereon a friend shall not avail a friend at all, nor shall they be helped. 41 except those on whom Allah will have mercy. He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 42
