We created mankind from clay, molded from mud, 26 while We had brought the jinn into being before out of blazing fire. 27 When your Lord said to the angels: 'See, I am creating a mortal from clay of molded mud. 28 So when I have made him complete and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down making obeisance to him. 29 All the angels prostrated before Adam 30 except Iblis; he refused to join those who prostrated. 31 "How is it, O Iblis," said (the Lord), "you did not join those who bowed in homage?" 32 "How could I bow," said he, "before a mortal whom You created from fermented clay dried tingling hard?" 33 Said He: "Go forth, then, from this [angelic state]: for, behold, thou art [henceforth] accursed, 34 "And verily, the curse shall be upon you till the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)." 35 Iblis prayed, "Lord, grant me respite until the Day of Judgment". 36 Allah said: "Then, verily, you are of those reprieved, 37 for an appointed time." 38 He said: my Lord! because Thou hast led me to err I will surely make things fairseeming unto them on the earth and will surely seduce them all: 39 "Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them." 40 He (Allah) said: 'This is for Me the Right Path 41 Lo! as for My slaves, thou hast no power over any of them save such of the froward as follow thee, 42 Surely, Hell is the place to which they are destined, 43 It has seven gates, and through each gate a portion of them belong. 44
