The people of Lut belied the sent ones. 160 Behold, their brother Lut said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 161 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 162 so fear God and obey me. 163 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 164 "Must you, of all people, [lustfully] approach men, 165 And leave ye your spouses your Lord hath created for you? Aye! ye are a people trespassing. 166 They said: if thou desistest not, O Lut! thou shalt surely be of those driven forth. 167 (Lot) said: "I am disgusted with your actions," 168 'My Lord, save me and my people from that they are doing' 169 So We delivered him and his followers all, 170 Except one old woman, who stayed behind. 171 But the rest We destroyed utterly. 172 And We rained on them a rain. So ill was the rain on those warned? 173 Surely, in that there is a sign. Yet most of them do not believe. 174 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
