The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 a return for the insolent, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
