The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
22 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Sun (Al-Shams) before The Fig (Al-Teen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the heaven with its impregnable castles; 1 and by the promised Day, 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 Cursed were the people of the ditch (the story of the Boy and the King). 4 Of the fire (kept burning) with fuel, 5 while they themselves sat around it 6 And they witnessed (all) that they were doing against the Believers. 7 whom they hated for no other reason than that they believed in God, the Almighty, the Praiseworthy, 8 God to whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and God is Witness over everything. 9 Those who persecute the believers, men and women, and then have not repented, there awaits them the chastisement of Gehenna, and there awaits them the chastisement of the burning. 10 Lo! those who believe and do good works, theirs will be Gardens underneath which rivers flow. That is the Great Success. 11 The grip of your Lord is indeed severe, 12 Indeed, it is He who originates [creation] and repeats. 13 And He is the Fogiving, the Loving, 14 the Owner of the Throne, the Glorious One, 15 The Doer of whatever He wants. 16 Have you not heard the story of the hosts 17 of Pharaoh and Thamud? 18 Nay, but the unbelievers still cry lies, 19 and God is behind them, encompassing. 20 Aye! it is a Recitation glorious, 21 upon an imperishable tablet [inscribed]. 22
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
