The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
