Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those [winds] scattering [dust] dispersing 1 And those [clouds] carrying a load [of water] 2 then the easy runners (the ships); 3 And those [angels] apportioning [each] matter, 4 What you are threatened with is most surely true, 5 And undoubtedly justice will surely be done. 6 By the Sky with (its) numerous Paths, 7 surely, you are in different sayings, 8 and are turned away from him who is turned. 9 They but destroy themselves, they who are given to guessing at what they cannot ascertain 10 Those who (flounder) heedless in a flood of confusion: 11 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Doom?' 12 On that Day they shall be tried at the Fire, 13 "Taste ye your trial! This is what ye used to ask to be hastened!" 14 Surely the godfearing shall be among gardens and fountains 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life. 16 sleeping little in the night-time, 17 And ere the dawning of each day would seek forgiveness, 18 and in their wealth there was a rightful share for him who would ask and for the destitute. 19 And on the earth are signs for the certain [in faith] 20 And (also) in yourselves. Can ye then not see? 21 And in heaven is your provision, and that you are promised. 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it is the truth, even as (it is true) that ye speak. 23
