The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 and a Book inscribed 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 There shall be none to avert it; 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell. 13 This is the fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, 19 They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. 20 The offspring of the believers will also follow them to Paradise. So shall We join their offspring to them because of their faith. We shall reduce nothing from their deeds. Everyone will be responsible for his own actions. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. 23 ۞ And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round. 24 And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, 25 Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
