Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ THE CONCRETE REALITY. 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 To which He subjected them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that thou mightest have seen men during it lying prostrate, as though they were stumps of palms ruined. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. 14 then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand – he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 “I was certain that I will confront my account.” 20 So he shall have an agreeable life 21 In a lofty Paradise, 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 and our belief has destroyed us". 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 Then, in a chain whereof the length is seventy Cubits, bind him. 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 nor would he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, 36 Which none but the hellish eat." 37
