He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 To him you give attention. 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 and fears (Allah), 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces will shine, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
