Said the Council of the unbelievers of his people, who cried lies to the encounter of the world to come, and to whom We had given ease in the present' life, 'This is naught but a mortal like yourselves, who eats of what you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 If you obey a mortal like yourselves, then you will be losers. 34 "Does he promise you that when you have died and have become dust and bones, you shall come out alive (resurrected)? 35 ۞ After, after with that which you are promised! 36 There is nought but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we are not going to be raised up. 37 He is but a man who hath fabricated against God a lie, and in him we are not going to be believers. 38 The Messenger said: "My Lord! Come to my help at their accusing me of lying." 39 He said: In a little while they surely will become repentant. 40 And then the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them, justly and unavoidably, and We caused them to become as the flotsam of dead leaves and the scum borne on the surface of a torrent: and so - away with those evildoing folk! 41 Then after them We raised other generations. 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession. Whenever a Messenger came to his people they rejected him, calling him a liar. Thereupon, We made each people to follow the other (to its doom), reducing them to mere tales (of the past). Scourged be the people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a clear authority 45 Unto Fir'awn and his chiefs, but they grew stiff-necked, and they were a people self-exalting. 46 So they said: shall we believe in two human beings like unto us, while their nation are to us slaves? 47 They called them liars and consequently were destroyed. 48 And assuredly We vouchsafed unto Musa the Book, that haply they may be guided. 49 and We made Mary's son, and his mother, to be a sign, and gave them refuge upon a height, where was a hollow and a spring: 50
