Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 I swear by the Book that makes things clear: 2 We have made it an Arabic Quran so that you may understand. 3 It is in the Origin of the Book with Us, sublime and wise. 4 [O YOU who deny the truth!] Should We, perchance, withdraw this reminder from you altogether, seeing that you are people bent on wasting your own selves? 5 And how many a prophet did We send to people of olden times! 6 And not a prophet came unto them but him they were wont to mock. 7 So We destroyed (them)- stronger in power than these;- and (thus) has passed on the Parable of the peoples of old. 8 And if thou askest them: who hath created the heavens and the earth? they will surely say: created them the Mighty, the Knower. 9 He it is Who made this earth for you a cradle and made in it pathways for you that you may find the way to your destination; 10 And Who sendeth down water from the sky in (due) measure, and We revive a dead land therewith. Even so will ye be brought forth; 11 And He it is who has created all opposites. And He [it is who] has provided for you all those ships and animals whereon you ride, 12 so that when you are mounted upon them you may remember the bounty of your Lord, and say: “Glory be to Him Who has subjected this to Us whereas we did not have the strength to subdue it. 13 To our Lord we shall all return". 14 And they allot to Him a portion of His bondmen! Lo! man is verily a mere ingrate. 15

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
