The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 And certainly some narratives have come to them wherein is prevention-- 4 Mature wisdom;- but (the preaching of) Warners profits them not. 5 Therefore, turn away from them. On the Day when the Caller summons them to a terrible thing, 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 Therefore he called upon his Lord: I am overcome, come Thou then to help. 10 We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. 11 and caused the earth to gush with springs, so that the waters met for a predestined matter. 12 But We bore him on an (Ark) made of broad planks and caulked with palm-fibre: 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And indeed, We have caused such [floating vessels] to remain forever a sign [of Our grace unto man]: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 15 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 16 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 17 The people of `Ad rejected Our guidance. How terrible was My torment and the result (of their disregard) of My warning. 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). 20 Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 21 But We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 22
