The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 So where are you going? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
