The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
