The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say, "This is (but) transient magic." 2 for they are bent on giving it the lie, being always wont to follow their own desires. Yet everything reveals its truth in the end. 3 And there have come to them such tidings as contain a deterrent -- 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 So turn away from them, (O Prophet). On the Day when a caller shall call them to a thing most terrible, 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 These disbelievers will say, "This is a hard day". 8 ۞ The folk of Noah denied before them, yea, they denied Our slave and said: A madman; and he was repulsed. 9 So he prayed to his Lord: "I am helpless, deliver me." 10 We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined. 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 which floated on the water before Our very eyes. The flood was a recompense for the deeds of the disbelievers. 14 And We left it as a sign – so is there one who would ponder? 15 How terrible then was My punishment and My warning. 16 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished! 22
